Why do I need a crown?
Crowns are protective coverings that protect the tooth from cracking and breaking. Crowns are recommended when a tooth has a large filling or has been treated with a root canal. Both of these conditions makes the tooth susceptible to fracturing. The fracturing of a tooth can cause significant discomfort and possible loss of the tooth. Factors such as tooth position and habits such as clenching or grinding also may influence the need for a crown.
